We have always loved Other Music, whenever you go there you are bound to find something new and exciting.  The music is great the staff is great – it is a record store that stays on the cutting edge.  So we celebrated when they said they would carry LP’s and CD’s of “Mr. Macy Wakes Alone” … and we went all out crazy when they reviewed the album.  

From sunshine pop to honky-tonk, skiffle to tin-pan alley to three-chord rock and roll, the group effortlessly and convincingly swings through it all, and centered around Walkley’s rich but raw singing, remarkably still sounds like a pop band rather than a manufactured studio project.  Fans of ’60’s/’70’s orch-pop, take heed, this is your man

Perhaps the most versatile musician I’ve seen in concert, Walkley’s voice changed drastically from song to song.  Setting the bar well beyond most musicians these days, Walkley begs the listener to pay attention to every detail of his performance and album as the recurring themes and characters only make sense when listening cover to cover… it would behoove every music lover to give him a listen.
